Biography
James J. Lukezic
Managing Principal · Executive Managing Director · Institutional Consultant
James is a graduate of Cornell University, starting his career at Merrill Lynch & Co. participating in its Junior Executive Training Program in New York City. James was selected to join as a Financial Analyst in the Offshore Funds and Private Investor Sales Division. During this time James spent two years, participating part-time, as a Visiting Lecturer at Princeton University in the Department of Politics and completed his Executive Education in Marketing at the Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
At Merrill Lynch, James was part of the international private client group (IPCG) and responsible for developing new business and maintaining existing business with high-end clientele — corporate, government and individual high net worth. James had the opportunity to develop and hone his skills as a marketer and relationship manager, with responsibilities for clientele in New York and Miami, and later maintaining and developing new business with clients in Buenos Aires (Merrill's largest foreign broker office at the time) and Santiago, Chile. James also later worked for Citigroup Global Markets, Bank of America and Wells Fargo as a Relationship Manager and Retirement Plan Consultant serving corporate clients. Most recently James served as Director of Investments at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., where he focused on providing corporate retirement plan services, with an emphasis on fiduciary governance. Retirement plan consultation included consultation on defined contribution plans and platforms, defined benefit plans, ESOPs and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
Ultimately, James uses a consultative, planning-based approach in recommending client strategies. James leverages what is a truly unconflicted investment environment at Old Slip Capital Partners that enables him to identify and select superior investment management services wherever they are housed. Through the use of a combination of traditional and alternative investments for qualified investors (some or all alternative investments may not be suitable for certain investors) in the asset allocation process, James is able to, with his substantial research-focused team, create customized institutional portfolios that are deemed to address a strict mandated series of criteria, including diversification needs, time horizons and risk thresholds.
James, of Manhattan, is the Chairman of ITF USA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists landmine victims in over 30 countries worldwide. He is also the Chairman of The Lukezic Family Foundation, Inc., a charity that assists children in need in the five boroughs of NYC that have only one parent. James is also a member of the United States Polo Association, New York City's Fencers Club, The Downtown Association, The Cornell Club of NYC and the American Helicopter Society.
